SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Work on Sarajevo's main pedestrian street, Ferhadija, is nearing completion, confirmed the Mayor of the Old Town Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić. Approximately 70 square meters of paving remain.
“I hope the work will be completed in four to five days. We left Štrosmajerova Street for September precisely because of the tourist season and the Sarajevo Film Festival. Funds for the street's reconstruction have been secured,” said Hadžibajrić.
He pointed out that projects worth 24 million KM are being implemented in the Old Town Municipality.
“If we consider that less than 20 million KM is being invested in the entire Federation, then it is clear that the Old Town Municipality is the largest construction site, to my delight,” said the Mayor.
Hadžibajrić stated that the delay in the Ferhadija street works was due to a shortage of stone used by the contractors.
“For Štrosmajerova Street, I requested that they secure the stone first so that the work can begin. We have fewer and fewer quality companies that are running out of workers. That is the number one problem, and I fear that in the next two to three years, companies will be left without workers,” said the Mayor of the Old Town Municipality.
