After a successful evacuation from war-torn Sana'a in Yemen and a strenuous journey via Moscow to Belgrade, Suad Dacić (26), a final-year student of Islamic studies, arrived in his native Cetanoviće near Sjenica on Saturday, visibly tired and exhausted, but happy to be safe and with his loved ones.
He was rescued from the capital of Yemen, after exceptional diplomatic efforts by Serbia, and transported by plane to Moscow by members of the Russian Air Force.
-I am happy that I got out of the city and country where my life was in danger and where, I fear, many more dangerous things will happen. Regardless of how the situation in Yemen unfolds, I will try to finish my remaining exams and thesis at another Islamic faculty in the world.
Now, the most important thing for me is that I am with my family and safe, I will rest well first - Dacić told "Večernje novosti" as soon as he stepped into his family home and met his mother Hankija and father Faruk.
Suad was met by his brother Zijad at the Belgrade airport on Friday evening.
Suad's parents, Faruk and Hankija, who did not sleep for nights while their son was waiting for rescue in Sana'a, are overjoyed:
-Thank God, everything ended well, thanks to everyone who helped our Suad to be here with us today.
- It was really dangerous: when the first bombs fell on Sana'a, I immediately bought a ticket and prepared for the journey - Suad recounts.
- While I was waiting for my flight at the airport, a bomb fell nearby, we all started to run, and we didn't even manage to pick up the luggage we had checked in. I returned to the dormitory where everyone was kind to me, but also scared, none of the dormitory staff knew what would happen next, we all feared for our lives.
