(Patria) - Members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency raided the Trnovo Municipality building this morning and at least five other locations in Sarajevo, Trnovo and on Bjelašnica, Istraga.ba has learned.
The operation is being conducted on the order of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, and the main target, as we have learned, is the current Mayor of Trnovo Municipality, Ibro Berilo (SDA).
According to information from Istraga, Berilo has been at the Clinical Center in Sarajevo for several days, which is why police inspectors also entered the CCUS. The Mayor of Trnovo, due to the questioning of his associates, knew he was a target of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, which is why he requested hospitalization to avoid possible arrest or detention.
In addition to Berilo, several businessmen from Sarajevo who were connected to him and who built facilities on Bjelašnica are also under investigation. According to information from Istraga, the Mayor of Trnovo Municipality allocated state land for hotel construction.
Ibro Berilo is the SDA candidate for Mayor of Trnovo Municipality in the upcoming local elections. In previous years, Berilo was a cadre of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the SDP BiH. According to official data, Ibro Berilo is one of the wealthiest mayors in Sarajevo Canton. His assets are estimated at over one million KM.
Several projects on Bjelašnica were carried out by Berilo in coordination with the current Government of Sarajevo Canton.
