
(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has established the Proposal for a Loan Agreement (Just Transition Project in Selected Coal-Rich Regions in Bosnia and Herzegovina) between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
The project aims to provide support for pilot approaches to a just transition in selected coal-rich regions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project, among other things, includes the repurposing of former mining areas in Banovići and Kreka, with the installation of certain renewable energy facilities, and supports the closure of selected mining pits in Zenica, along with support for worker transition.
This project will be supported by an IBRD loan in the amount of 79,900,000 euros and will be allocated to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the end users being the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, JP Elektroprivreda BiH, and RMU Banovići.
The loan repayment period is 32.5 years, including a grace period of seven years.
The Proposal for the Loan Agreement with the Basis for its Conclusion will be submitted to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further procedure, and the Minister of Finance and Treasury has been proposed as the signatory for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
