Member of Sarajevo's Famous Championship Generation Passes Away

(Patria) - Yesterday, former Sarajevo player and coach Boško Prodanović passed away in Belgrade at the age of 81, reports the reprezentacija.ba portal.

Boško Prodanović was born on August 1, 1943, in Gračac, Croatia, and he debuted in Sarajevo's first team in the Rapan Cup matches in the summer of 1964.

In his first season at Koševo, he made only one league appearance, but from the following season onwards, he became indispensable in the right-winger position. With 10 goals scored in all competitions, he was Sarajevo's second-best scorer in the 1965/66 season, and this was just a prelude to the next season, which was also the pinnacle of his career.

He was a member of the famous attacking trio Prodanović-Musemić-Antić, which mercilessly tore apart opposing defenses in the 1966/67 season and brought Sarajevo its first Yugoslav championship title.

Winning the championship title also brought Sarajevo participation in the European Champions Cup and matches against the famous Manchester United, and it was precisely that match that proved fatal for Prodanović, who was sidelined for a full six months due to injury.

After recovering from the injury, in June 1968, he received a call-up to the Yugoslav national team, for which he played only one match.

With the passing of Prodanović, all three members of the slogan “Two Boškos, two corners, Musemija in the middle, don't worry about the win” have passed away. Of course, besides Prodanović, this refers to Boško Antić and Vahid Musemić.

This was the team that brought the first Yugoslav championship title to Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He wore the Sarajevo jersey until 1971, when he moved to Radnički Kragujevac, and during his seven-year stay at Koševo, he made 131 appearances in official matches and scored 47 goals.

After finishing his playing career, he dedicated himself to coaching, and on several occasions, he was a member of Sarajevo's first team's coaching staff.

He passed away on April 16, 2024, in Belgrade, at the age of 81.
