Bosnian writer Irfan Horozović passed away

(Patria) - Bosnian writer, poet, storyteller, essayist, and playwright Irfan Horozović passed away in Sarajevo after a long and difficult illness.

Horozović, with his entire opus, held a significant place in domestic literature, with over forty published works for children and adults, numerous theatrical performances, and awards.

He was born on April 27, 1947, in Banja Luka, where he completed primary school and high school, and graduated in Comparative Literature and Yugoslav Languages and Literature from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb.

During his career, he was the editor of several magazines and publishing projects, and a long-time editor in the Drama Program of RTV Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Horozović marked the literary scene in the late sixties of the last century, and particularly distinguished himself with the collection of short stories Talhe or Šedrvanski vrt, which marked his entry into the postmodern discourse of Bosnian literature.

His prose, poetry, and plays are characterized by intertextuality, metatextuality, and innovative narrative play, while his texts for children are known for their phantasmagoria, ludism, and humor.

For his literary work, he received numerous awards, including the City of Banja Luka Award, the Association of Writers of BiH Award, the Society of Writers of BiH Award, and the "25th November" Lifetime Achievement Award.

His works are included in anthologies and translated into several languages, leaving a significant mark on Bosnian and regional literature.
