(Patria) - Vahida Bešlagić from Ključ, a heroine of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has passed away, announced her comrades from the 17th Knightly Brigade.
Bešlagić died due to a serious illness, cancer, for which she was also receiving treatment outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and her friends, comrades, and other citizens had recently appealed for funds to continue her treatment.
Bešlagić was also an 80% war disabled veteran. She was a member of the Seventh Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH), the 17th Knightly Krajina Brigade. She was wounded four times during the war.
"Her courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith in truth and justice remain etched in the memory of all who knew her. Vahida was more than a fighter – she was a symbol of dignity, strength, and defiance of women in war, and she continued to live with the same passion and integrity in peacetime as well," stated the announcement by her comrades on social media.
