PM of Canton Sarajevo meets with representatives of core cultural organizations of the peoples of BiH 'Preporod' and 'Prosvjeta'

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo Nihad Uk met with representatives of the core cultural organizations of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina - the Bosniak Cultural Community "Preporod" and the Serb Educational and Cultural Society "Prosvjeta", which, along with the Croatian Cultural Society "Napredak" and the Jewish Cultural, Educational and Humanitarian Society "La Benevolencija", are among the oldest institutions in our country, with a tradition of over 120 years.

During the meeting, they discussed the work of these societies and the cooperation they have with the institutions of Canton Sarajevo. The presidents of "Prosvjeta" and "Preporod", Nedeljko Masleša and Sanjin Kodrić, thanked Prime Minister Uk for the recently adopted decision granting these four societies the status of special importance for Canton Sarajevo. This, as emphasized, is the culmination of years of cooperation that will help raise the status and position of national cultural societies to the level they deserve and have earned through more than 120 years of work in promoting culture and building Bosnian society as a whole.

Prime Minister Uk confirmed that these decisions will be formally presented at the "Sazvučja" gala concert, which will be held in the Sarajevo City Hall and which the four societies are gifting to Sarajevo and BiH.

The participants of the discussion also touched upon future work, expressing hope that it will be even more fruitful, but also discussed still unresolved issues, among which the key issue is the property that was confiscated from these societies in 1949 and has not yet been returned. Resolving this issue, it was pointed out, would greatly resolve and improve the work of these societies.

Prof. Dr. Sanjin Kodrić, president of the Bosniak Cultural Community "Preporod", emphasized the importance of the Decision on the special status of the core cultural organizations of the peoples of BiH, which was adopted by the KS Assembly in April this year at the proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS. This, he adds, has finally appropriately resolved the issue of the status and co-financing of the work and activities of these organizations in KS, making this decision historic.

"Furthermore, we informed Prime Minister Uk about the extremely successful cooperation we have, especially with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS, which continuously and very responsibly supports our work and activities, and, together with the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, represents our main support in terms of co-financing our work and activities. Among our numerous other projects, programs, and activities that could not be realized without the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS, we particularly emphasized the support for the project of creating the first Bosnian opera Tvrtko, King of Bosnia, whose main co-financier is precisely the Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS, which we extremely appreciate as a very valuable step towards creating new cultural values of broader social importance," said Kodrić.

He added that activities related to the preparation of the "Sazvučja" concert are underway, which is being organized by the core cultural organizations of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the auspices of the City of Sarajevo and Canton Sarajevo.

"This extremely valuable musical event will be an opportunity to publicly thank both the City of Sarajevo and Canton Sarajevo for their support of our work and activities, and especially for adopting decisions recognizing the core cultural organizations of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina as cultural organizations of special importance for the City of Sarajevo and Canton Sarajevo, respectively. This concert is also one of the indicators of the importance of cooperation both among the core cultural organizations of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the competent authorities, all 'for the happiness of home and people', which is the essential mission of the Bosniak Cultural Community 'Preporod'. The same applies to our other, brotherly and sisterly cultural organizations of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Kodrić emphasized.
