Premier Pivić with Ministers Visited Tešanj Municipality and Mayor Huskić: Construction of Elementary School in Medakovo Nearing Completion

(Patria) - A delegation of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, led by Premier Nezir Pivić, paid a working visit to Tešanj Municipality, where they met with Mayor Suad Huskić and the President of the Municipal Council Amir Kurtić, and visited construction sites of facilities jointly financed by these two levels of government.

The government delegation included Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mirza Mušija, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Jasmin Čajić, and Minister of Finance Dženana Čišija.

The delegation visited the construction site of the Elementary School "9. septembar" Medakovo Tešanj, whose construction began in the autumn of 2020 and which will be operational from the next school year. The value of this project is around 2.5 million KM, of which the Tešanj Municipality secured 1 million, and 1.5 million KM from the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, through the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, including 655,000 KM in 2024.

Premier Pivić praised Tešanj Municipality as one of the few municipalities investing in educational infrastructure, and especially thanked Mayor Huskić for taking care of issues not directly under the municipality's jurisdiction, guided by the interests of all citizens, especially the youth.

He noted that the government he leads yesterday signed a contract with UNDP in BiH for the financing of a project to replace fossil fuel boiler rooms, worth one million KM, which will improve energy efficiency and conditions for teaching in 20 schools in this canton, including in Tešanj Municipality.

- This is confirmation that the ZDC Government is fully committed to investing in educational infrastructure to create the best and most favorable conditions for our children, and in addition, we take care of the material status of our employees through salary increases - said Premier Pivić.

Mayor Huskić said that the construction of this school is very important for 360 students and 50 teachers, but also for the entire local community.

- I am proud that the school was built in a relatively short time and in accordance with the highest educational standards. We are pleased with the projections showing a stable number of students in this school, and these are the reasons why we will be especially happy when we bring students into the classrooms - said Mayor Huskić.

The delegation visited the construction site of the Jelah Sports Hall, a project worth 2.8 million KM, for which the ZDC Government has so far allocated 500,000 KM, and then the regional road R474 Tešanj-Novi Šeher via Crni vrh, where reconstruction of the first section will soon begin.

The ZDC Government allocated 1.5 million KM in 2024, and the first two-kilometer section will be asphalted. The procedure for selecting the contractor is underway.

- The government recognized the importance of this road, which during the aggression was the only communication with free territory. We plan to asphalt a 2-kilometer section this year, and we will continue the work next year, because the road is important not only for the residents of Tešanj, but also for neighboring municipalities - said Premier Pivić.

The delegation also visited the construction site of the Kraljevo Brdo tunnel, as well as the highway construction site in Medakovo. The total length of the Corridor Vc highway through the area of Tešanj Municipality will be over 16 kilometers and will cost more than 800 million KM.
