(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Nezir Pivić met in Turin with the President of the Italian Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio, the Vice President of the Region Maurizio Marrone, and Regional Councillor Mauro Fava.

Piedmont, a region in northwestern Italy with over 4.3 million inhabitants, and the Zenica-Doboj Canton have had very good cooperation for years, particularly in the fields of public health, entrepreneurship development, and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Thanks to this cooperation, the Zenica-Doboj Canton has secured significant resources and training in the treatment of oncology patients at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, and more recently, cooperation has been carried out through projects for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer, which also includes work with local healthcare institutions.

- Special emphasis in the talks was placed on a new joint project of great benefit to the public health of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is worth around 4 million KM, and we expect its implementation to begin soon - said Prime Minister Pivić.

An important meeting for the continuation and strengthening of dialogue, cooperation, and exchange of opportunities between our territories, in the belief that institutional comparison is a fundamental tool for building new opportunities for growth and joint development - announced after the meeting the President of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio, who is also a former member of the European Parliament.

In addition, possibilities for intensifying economic cooperation were also discussed. Italy is a significant foreign trade partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the trade exchange with the Zenica-Doboj Canton exceeds half a billion marks. Imports from Italy are still greater than the placement of goods and services from the Zenica-Doboj Canton, which is why the Cantonal Government has focused on strengthening economic cooperation and attracting investments from this country.

Prime Minister Pivić also conveyed this message at an institutional meeting at the Agliè Castle in the Piedmont Region, organized by the Italian company Hitherm SRL and Bosnian citizens living in this country, which was also attended by the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić, the consul of our country in Milan Arijana Džogović, the mayor of the Maglaj municipality Maid Suljaković, a representative of the Tešanj municipality, as well as representatives of companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy.

- We want to attract investors from Italy by using the strong industrial base of our canton, favorable geographical position, and good road and rail connections, and a comparative advantage of our country is the profit tax of only 10%, which is one of the most favorable rates in Europe. We also have significant human resources in the homeland and our diaspora, which can be the basis for stronger connections with Italian partners - said Prime Minister Pivić.

Prime Minister Pivić also visited the Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Milan, where he discussed with Consul Arijana Džogović the possibilities of promoting the potentials and investment advantages of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Zenica-Doboj Canton in Italy, as well as the position of Bosnian citizens living and working in the provinces of northern Italy, most of whom come from the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
