Championship Interrupted: Radical, but Expected Move in Greece!

Due to last night's incidents during the PAOK – AEK match, a radical move was decided in Greece.

After this morning's meeting, Minister of Sport Girgios Vassilliadis, with the approval of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, interrupted the Greek championship.

“We have decided to suspend the championship. It will not continue until new leadership is elected with the consent of all,” said Vassilliadis, adding that they are in contact with UEFA.

Last night, PAOK owner Ivan Savvidis entered the field with a pistol after his club was denied a goal in the 90th minute, and threatened the head referee Georgios Kaminis with death.

The match was stopped, and this morning an arrest warrant was issued for the Greek-Russian tycoon, who is also a close friend of Vladimir Putin.
