Significant procurement of medical and protective equipment for the Sarajevo Canton ahead

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Government, in cooperation with UNDP, has secured the procurement of appropriate medical and protective equipment. Significant procurements for the Sarajevo Canton are ahead. The procurement refers to three-layer surgical masks (450,000 pieces), protective suits with hoods (33,000 pieces), protective masks FPPN2 and FPPN3 (45,000 pieces), gloves 175,000 pieces, protective visors (5,000 new pieces + 2,000 already delivered pieces) and will be carried out during this week.

Also, for diagnostic purposes in the same period, transport for viral samples (5,000 pieces) is arriving, and in terms of medical equipment, 30 ventilators are being provided. What is particularly important is that, through cooperation with UNDP, the Sarajevo Canton Government has ensured continuous supply of the Sarajevo Canton with necessary protective and medical equipment by identifying adequate suppliers. The procurement of protective equipment begins this week, and the first quantities of ventilators will arrive by April 20, 2020.

Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Mario Nenadić, on behalf of the Sarajevo Canton Government, thanks UNDP for the fact that, in addition to the invested funds of the Government, they also intervened with their own contribution, thereby strengthening the capacities of this canton for the needs of the fight against the coronavirus. On this occasion, Prime Minister Nenadić said that he wants citizens to know that we will fight the coronavirus pandemic more effectively in this way.

"Given that our medical workers are on the frontlines of this fight, it is very important to us that they are adequately protected," said Nenadić.

We remind you, this activity will be realized thanks to agreements between the Sarajevo Canton Government and UNDP, through which the Government secured 500,000 KM, and UNDP 300,000 KM. Future procurements will be more extensive, all depending on the final delivered quantity of equipment, recommended prices, and in accordance with the general needs of the Sarajevo Canton.
