House of Representatives of BiH to discuss set of laws aligned with EU legislation

(Patria) - The House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina will today consider several legal proposals submitted to the parliamentary procedure by the Council of Ministers of BiH, which bear the mark of alignment with European Union legislation.

These are legal solutions in the field of industrial property and intellectual property, including the Proposal for a Law amending and supplementing the Law on Industrial Design, aligned with the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights in the process of BiH's accession to the World Trade Organization, and EU standards.

A novelty is that the decisions of the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH would be final in the first instance, and the dissatisfied party could challenge them exclusively before the Court of BiH.

Also on the agenda are the Proposal for a Law on Trademarks, the Proposal for a Law on Patents, and the Proposal for a Law on the Protection of Trade Secrets, which regulates this area for the first time in BiH in a comprehensive manner, in accordance with EU practice and international obligations.

Among the laws marked with EI are the proposals for laws on the protection of topographies of semiconductor products, representation in the field of industrial property rights, and units of measurement. All these proposals will be considered in the first reading.

In addition to the set of laws from the Council of Ministers, deputies will also consider several proposals submitted by the parliamentarians themselves, as well as parliamentary initiatives. The session begins at 10:00 AM with parliamentary questions.
