Bosnia and Herzegovina Representatives Depart for the Paralympics in Brazil

Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina have departed from Sarajevo Airport for Rio de Janeiro for the Paralympics, which will be held from September 7 to 18, 2016. The national sitting volleyball team, led by coach Mirza Hrustemović, and two athletes, Dževad Pandžić (shot put) and Dženita Klico (shot put), will represent BiH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

Mirza Hrustemović's chosen athletes have had three training cycles, and this is the fifth time our national team of BiH is participating in the Paralympics (Sydney 2000 silver medal, Athens 2004 gold medal, Beijing 2008 silver medal, London 2012 gold medal).

In addition to BiH, seven other teams are participating: Ukraine (instead of Russia), Iran, China, with whom we are in the group, and Brazil, Germany, USA, and Egypt.

The sitting volleyball team is our most decorated sports collective, nine-time European champions, three-time world champions. In Brazil, they will give their all to bring home gold from the Paralympics for the third time.

In addition to athletics and sitting volleyball, people with disabilities can also compete in wheelchair basketball, table tennis, swimming, and shooting, while badminton is a new discipline.

The flag of our country at the opening ceremony will be carried by shot putter Dženita Klico, whose competition we expect on September 10. Shot putter Dževad Pandžić will compete six days later.
