Protocol for Marking the 33rd Anniversary of the Ahmići Massacre Presented

(Patria) - A press conference was held today in Ahmići regarding the marking of the 33rd anniversary of the HVO crime against the Bosniak population of Ahmići, Donja Večeriska, and other places in the municipality of Vitez.

Representatives of the Organizing Committee presented the Protocol for Marking this Anniversary and planned activities.



The attendees were addressed by the Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Refik Lendo, who is also the president of the Organizing Committee for Marking the 33rd Anniversary of the Ahmići Massacre, stating that it is important to convey the truth.

- It is our obligation, in these areas where 116 innocent civilians were killed, where houses and mosques were burned and destroyed, to speak the truth and preserve the memory of what happened.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, through its verdicts, has established the facts about this crime and the individual criminal responsibility of its perpetrators - Lendo stated.



He added that it is particularly important to build trust among people in the Vitez area and to convey the truth to younger generations about Ahmići, Srebrenica, and all places of suffering, in order to build a society based on truth, justice, and mutual respect.

- I am sure that the peoples in these areas will live freely and build a future together, but only if that future is based on truth and justice - Lendo emphasized.

Finally, he sent a message of remembrance to all victims and thanked the present media for their support and coverage of the marking of this anniversary.



- May God have mercy on all victims, and I wish patience and strength to the families of those who suffered - Lendo added.

During the conference, the program of commemorative activities was presented, which will once again mark the anniversary of the crime with dignity and pay tribute to the innocent civilians killed.
