BiH Presidency gives consent, helicopters to extinguish fire at Ponijeri this afternoon

(Patria) - The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina signed consent this morning for the Helicopter Service of the Armed Forces of BiH to join firefighting efforts at the Ponijeri site, upon the request of the Civil Protection of Kakanj Municipality.

The request for support was submitted yesterday, and the helicopters conducted a terrain reconnaissance and situation assessment this morning, with operations expected to begin in the afternoon.

In the initial runs, the helicopters will draw water from the Bosna River, and if necessary, it has already been agreed to set up a basin on the Gostović River near Zavidovići, into which water would be injected using pumps. The fire broke out at the Ponijeri site towards Zavidovići.

About ten days ago, OSBiH helicopters had already extinguished fires in Olovo and Žepče in the same canton.
