SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Croatian National Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by President Marijo Pejić, expresses condolences to all those who lost family members in Srebrenica 24 years ago and shares their pain, it was announced today from the HNV.
“Srebrenica is a place of terrible crime and genocide against the Bosniak people, and that city must be a place of learning for all of us. The genocide in Srebrenica must be talked about, because the truth is important for the victims, but also for the survivors and their families. Of course, the Serbian people are not to blame for this, but those who defined and implemented the Greater Serbian aggressive, conquering, and genocidal policy. Unfortunately, the remnants of the war in BiH remain, because denying the genocide in Srebrenica and relativizing crimes does not contribute to common life, reconciliation, and dialogue in BiH. Only through truth, acknowledgment of crimes, acceptance of responsibility, and expression of remorse for what happened can a path towards catharsis be opened. If someone still does not acknowledge today that there was a genocide in Srebrenica, how can they be forgiven? We must all work to get closer to each other – that is our modus vivendi in the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. Forgiveness is important, and there is no forgiveness without acknowledgment,” said Pejić.
