Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers Krišto Submitted Initial Version of the Reform Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EC!

(Patria) - Chairwoman of the BiH Council of Ministers Borjana Krišto today sent the initial working version of the Reform Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi.

This document was prepared by an ad hoc body of the BiH Council of Ministers and contains four priorities: Green and Digital Transition, Private Sector Development and Business Environment, Human Capital Development and Retention, and Rule of Law.

Based on these priorities, an indicative list of projects and priorities has been compiled, which will be further developed in dialogue with the European Commission by March next year, when the final Reform Agenda should be agreed upon, listing all reforms and conditions necessary for the approval of funds and investment projects. After that, the process will be led to completion by a permanent working group, which will be appointed by the BiH Council of Ministers later in 2024.

In the letter accompanying the Reform Plan document, Krišto emphasized that the new Growth Plan for the Western Balkans opens new opportunities for investment in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian economy, integration with the EU market, and access to the benefits of EU membership, which have so far been unavailable to candidate countries.

She added that Bosnia and Herzegovina faces a significant challenge in preparing the final Reform Plan, which is an important part of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. She also stressed the exceptional importance of maintaining the understanding and support of the European Commission in this process in order to successfully implement and complete it, with the absolute involvement and support of all constitutionally competent levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Krišto took the opportunity to thank Commissioner Varhelyi for the Second High-Level Political Forum between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union held yesterday in Brussels.
