Proposed extension of detention for Miralem Berbić

(Patria) - The acting prosecutor of the Terrorism Department within the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the BiH Prosecutor's Office has submitted a proposal to the BiH Court for the extension of detention for the suspect Berbić Milarem, born in 1954 in Zenica.

Detention has been proposed due to the suspect's risk of flight, the risk that he might re-offend or complete the initiated crime if released, as he is a person who spent a long period in Syria, as well as due to the particular circumstances of the commission of the crime, where releasing the suspect would cause public unrest.

In the case against the suspect Berbić, who is charged with the criminal offense of - Illegal formation and joining foreign paramilitary or paramilitary formations under Article 162b of the Criminal Code of BiH, the prosecution is undertaking activities related to requests for international legal assistance to gather evidence in the case.
