Detention Proposed for Suspect in International Arms and Military Equipment Smuggling

(Patria) - After questioning the suspect, the prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption submitted a motion to the Court of BiH for detention of the suspect Hrvatović Alen, born in 1979 in Tuzla.

The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is charged with international smuggling of a large quantity of weapons and military equipment, intended for the illegal market of the Netherlands, which was discovered and seized in Dresden, in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The detention measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, points b) and c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, namely due to the risk that if released, the suspect might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices, and that he might commit a new criminal offense or complete the one already initiated. The suspect is charged with the criminal offense of unauthorized trafficking in weapons, military equipment, and dual-use products under Article 193 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
