(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) today proposed detention for Dalibor K. (50) from Laktaši, suspected of attempting to abduct a child in Mostar.
"The proposal for detention was filed due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that on September 12, around 6 PM, in Vrapčići near Mostar, near the Vrapčići Elementary School, he attempted to commit the criminal offense of unlawful deprivation of liberty," the Prosecutor's Office announced.
Detention, as stated, was proposed because special circumstances justify the fear that he will repeat this criminal offense, complete the attempted criminal offense, or commit a criminal offense he threatens, and for these criminal offenses, a prison sentence of three years or more can be imposed.
"The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of HNK, Mostar Police Department, continues to undertake investigative actions in this case in order to establish all the facts and circumstances under which this criminal offense was committed," the statement added.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of HNK previously stated that one person was arrested on suspicion of attempting to abduct a child. They explained that H.H. (1951) contacted them and reported that an unknown male person in a van without license plates, in Vrapčići, offered a chocolate bar to her minor granddaughter N.Đ. (2014) and lured her to enter the van.
Immediately after the report, police patrols were dispatched and very quickly found the vehicle driven by K.D. (1973) from Laktaši.
