Detention requested for Emir Selimović from Kalesija

(Patria) - The acting prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton has filed a motion with the Cantonal Court in Tuzla to order detention for Emir Selimović (38) from Kalesija due to the existence of well-founded suspicion that he committed two criminal offenses of murder of his wife I.S. and thirteen-year-old son in conjunction, in a treacherous manner.

He is suspected of having treacherously taken advantage of their inability to defend themselves on February 12, between 3 and 6 AM, in their family apartment in Kalesija, while his wife and son were asleep, and strangled them with his hands until they stopped breathing, causing their death by suffocation.

After committing the criminal offenses, he fled in his wife's car and hid from the police and investigative authorities for several days.

We remind you that the suspect was apprehended on February 17 by police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, PS Prnjavor, in the area of Gornja Mravica near Prnjavor, after an intensive search and a series of operational and investigative actions carried out in coordination with investigators from the Criminal Police Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, aiming to locate and apprehend the suspect.

Investigators from the Criminal Police Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton conducted a criminal investigation and, along with the report on the committed criminal offense and accompanying material evidence, handed over the suspect to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office.

The acting prosecutor issued an order to conduct an investigation and questioned the suspect, who exercised his right to remain silent.

The investigation into the double murder is ongoing.
