(Patria) - During the past day, police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton implemented enhanced traffic control measures, given the increased number of vehicles on the roads, due to the observance of the international holiday – May 1st, Labour Day.
This holiday is traditionally a time when many citizens take the opportunity for excursions, gatherings, or rest, which leads to increased traffic load.
Thus, during the past day, police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton conducted regular traffic control measures. Within these activities, they issued 256 violation notices. Also, the following were removed from traffic: 43 vehicles for driving under the influence of alcohol, 7 individuals driving vehicles before obtaining a driving license, 2 vehicles whose drivers violated protective measures prohibiting driving, 3 vehicles under the influence of narcotic drugs, 10 vehicles due to expired registration certificates, 1 vehicle due to technical non-compliance.
One of the most prominent problems during the holidays is driving under the influence of alcohol, as evidenced by the number of vehicles removed from traffic (43) whose drivers were under the influence of alcohol, while three drivers were under the influence of narcotic drugs.
This indicates that holidays are a time when many drivers neglect their responsibilities, which can have serious consequences for road safety.
