(Patria) - The Court of BiH has issued a final verdict sentencing Alisa Mutap Ramić to two and a half years in prison.
Former head of traffic investigations Hasan Dupovac has been acquitted.
Alisa Mutap was convicted of giving false testimony in connection with the death of Dženan Memić.
The other three defendants, Zijad Mutap, police officer Josip Barić, and the receptionist at the "Cristal" hotel in Ilidža, Muamer Ožegović, have been acquitted.
Dženan Memić sustained injuries under still unexplained circumstances on the night of February 8, 2016, and died from those injuries on February 15, 2016.
Initially, the case was treated as a traffic accident, then as a murder, before being reclassified as a traffic accident. The Cantonal Court acquitted Ljuba and Bekrija Seferović of causing a traffic accident and obstructing justice, and the Supreme Court of FBiH upheld that verdict. The verdict states that there is no evidence of a traffic accident occurring as described in the indictment of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, and that the injuries sustained by Dženan Memić do not correspond to those a pedestrian sustains when hit by a car.
Furthermore, the on-site investigation in Velika aleja did not establish the point of contact between a vehicle and the pedestrian, which cast doubt on it being an accident.
Although the Prosecutor's Office of BiH opened two investigations, the one for the murder of Dženan Memić was never concluded.
The Memić family is disappointed with the acquittal of Hasan Dupovac.
