(Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed an indictment against Ramiz Duraković for a war crime against the civilian population committed in 1993 in the area of Čajniče.
Duraković, as announced by the State Prosecutor's Office, is charged that as the commander of the 43rd Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina he is responsible because he knew about the committed crimes and did not take necessary and reasonable measures to punish the perpetrators, BIRN BiH reports.
The Prosecutor's Office previously stated that Duraković is suspected of participating on February 14, 1993, in an attack on the villages of Šapiće, Trpinje and Trojan, inhabited by the Serbian population, where brigade members killed 11 civilians by firing automatic weapons.
Also, during the attack, five civilians of Serbian nationality were wounded, including two minor victims.
The accused, according to the Prosecutor's Office, is a citizen of Serbia and Germany.
The Court of BiH is conducting proceedings against Ferid Buljubašić, commander of the Eastern Bosnian Operational Group, and 12 other accused, and the indictment, among other things, covers the attack on the villages of Šapići, Trpinje and Trojan on February 14, 1993.
Given that the indictment has been confirmed, a hearing will be scheduled in the Court of BiH in the coming period at which Duraković will enter a plea.
