(Patria) - The fire in Sutjeska National Park has been brought under control, Boban Kusturić, director of the Helicopter Service of Republika Srpska, told RTRs.
Kusturić emphasized that the fire was brought under control thanks to helicopters from Serbia.
- If the helicopters from Serbia had not arrived, our helicopters from HS Srpske and the Armed Forces of BiH would not have been able to control the fire, and it would have certainly escalated - Kusturić added.
As stated, the damage in Zelengora has already reached millions of marks, and the consequences for endemic species and biodiversity will only be known after the fire is completely contained.
Helicopter units and firefighters on the ground will remain until late at night.
Kusturić said that two helicopters from the Helicopter Service of RS and two helicopters from the Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia are moving to extinguish the fire around Bileća.
