Favorable driving conditions, no congestion at border crossings

(Patria) - Traffic across Bosnia and Herzegovina is flowing without major delays, with mostly favorable weather conditions and good visibility. Road surfaces are predominantly dry, while on sections through cuts and over mountain passes, occasional small landslides are possible. Increased vehicle frequency is expected on approaches to major urban centers, as well as at certain border crossings. Drivers are advised to drive cautiously, adapting to road conditions and traffic circumstances.

Movement of all vehicles is prohibited over the bridge on the Dobro Polje-Miljevina main road. Vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons may use roads via Grebak or Kalinovik (including 19 km of gravel road), while freight vehicles must travel via Rogatica and Ustiprača.

Construction of noise barriers is underway on the A-1 motorway section Sarajevo North-Podlugovi, due to which traffic is redirected to the passing lane.

Due to monitoring works of the surrounding soil on the A-1 motorway section Sarajevo West-Lepenica, in the area of the Lepenica interchange and the Igman tunnel, traffic operates in two-way mode, using the right lane.

On the Jablanica-Bildinje main road, traffic is permitted for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons remains suspended.

Traffic is suspended for all vehicles on the Šamac-Grebnica main road due to repairs of the railway crossing. Alternative routes are in operation.

At border crossings, waiting times are currently no longer than 30 minutes.

Due to passenger registration under the new system for entry and exit from European Union countries (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer waiting times at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. As of December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all vehicle categories. At the Šepak border crossing, traffic is prohibited for all freight vehicles.
