(Patria) - The State Court has confirmed the indictment against Mevlid Jašarević, previously convicted for the terrorist attack on the United States of America (USA) Embassy in Sarajevo, for preventing an official from performing an official act, Detector has learned.
As stated by the Court of BiH, a plea hearing for Jašarević will be scheduled after any potential preliminary objections are filed.
The Prosecutor's Office previously announced that Jašarević, who is serving a prison sentence at the Correctional Facility for Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Detention and Other Measures in BiH in Istočno Sarajevo, is accused of verbally and physically threatening female officers of the Facility on two occasions, with the intention of preventing and obstructing the performance of official duties related to the prohibitions on making calls and written contact during his sentence, which were imposed on him multiple times during 2025.
"The accused is charged with attempting to prevent an official in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina from performing an official act within their authority, by force and threat of direct use of force," the statement said.
Jašarević was previously sentenced to 15 years in prison for the terrorist attack on the US Embassy building, where he fired about 105 rounds from an automatic rifle on October 28, 2011, uttered threats to officials, and seriously wounded police officer Mirsad Velić, who was securing the Embassy building, reports Detector.
