(Patria) - A hearing was held at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for Tarik Prusac, suspected of murdering 41-year-old Elma Godinjak.
A month's detention was requested, and Prusac is charged with the criminal offense of aggravated murder, writes vijesti.ba
Prusac confessed to the murder in his statement to the prosecution.
Addressing the court, Prusac stated that he is in a poor financial situation and that he understands the charges against him.
The defense requested the exclusion of the public, which the prosecution strongly opposed. The court accepted the prosecution's arguments and rejected the defense's motion.
After that, the prosecutor recounted the events of May 1st and stated that she was among the first on the scene.
The lifeless body of the murdered Elma was found in the stairwell. They also observed that there were two gunshots, one hitting the wall and the other the victim.
After that, according to the prosecutor, Prusac violently dragged the girl away. The prosecutor said the scene was terrifying and that the victim was visibly beaten, as was the minor girl who witnessed everything.
The prosecutor also stated that she will prove "that the killer was waiting for Elma in the hallway, and that traces of a struggle were found in the apartment." The prosecutor stated that she believes it was a "deliberate and prepared act," given that the suspect did not surrender his official weapon, although he was obliged to do so.
The prosecutor also stated that Elma was bound with tape. She mentioned that Elma informed Tarik Prusac in January that she wanted a divorce, and that psychological abuse and threats began thereafter.
According to the prosecution, Prusac stated, "Whoever separates my child from me will end up underground." The prosecutor also said that he was not prevented from seeing the child and that he had the right to see him on weekends.
During January and February, Prusac stalked Elma, came to her workplace, and on one occasion stopped her and her new partner, threatening him as well.
The prosecutor states that he was subsequently issued a restraining order, but Elma did not press criminal charges, believing that it would stop.
"He could not accept the divorce," said the prosecutor. She also stated that 10 years ago, Prusac beat his mother and brother, and described him as a violent and arrogant person.
The suspect's lawyer stated that he saw injuries on Prusac's left arm in the courtroom this morning and that his client told him he had tried to cut his veins."
The defense did not object to the detention.
After that, the suspect Prusac also addressed the court. He said, "that he regrets it, that it was not his intention, and that he had not seen the girl for 25 days due to the court's restraining order."
"I wanted to scare her and take the child," said Prusac.
We remind you that the tragic event occurred on May 1st in Omladinskih radnih brigada street. The police arrested him shortly thereafter. The child whom the suspect took with him after the murder was found unharmed and placed under the care of the competent services. Tarik Prusac had a court-ordered restraining order against Elma Godinjak since April 8th of this year.
