Contract signed for the conceptual design of the future tram line from Nedžarići to Dobrinja

(Patria) - Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta and Goyo Nieves, representative of the company IDOM, signed a contract for the development of the conceptual design of the future tram line from Nedžarići to Dobrinja.

Funds for the development of the conceptual design were secured through a grant from the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, and the signing ceremony was also attended by María Molina, the Spanish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

„The tram line that will connect Nedžarići, Dobrinja and the Airport will be of great importance for the residents of this part of the city, as well as for visitors to Sarajevo. Today we have taken the first step towards its construction. I am proud to be part of yet another important project and another expansion of the tram network in our city. The neighborhoods through which the line will pass are home to more than 60,000 residents, which will significantly improve the quality of life and enhance everyday life,“ stated Minister Adnan Šteta.

Following the development of the conceptual design, a public procurement process for the execution of works will follow.

This is yet another capital project that is part of the plan of the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton for the period 2020-2030.

“After the renovation of the Ilidža-Marijin Dvor tram line, the construction of the Ilidža-Hrasnica tram line, we continue to expand the line. Our goal is for public transport to be the first choice of citizens, not an alternative. That is why we continue to expand the tram network and invest in projects that bring real changes to people's everyday lives. Every new kilometer of tram line means less congestion, better connectivity and a higher quality of life for the citizens of Sarajevo,” concluded Minister Šteta.

The Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, led by Minister Šteta, thanks the Government of the Kingdom of Spain for the secured grant for the development of the conceptual design, as well as for the long-standing successful and friendly cooperation with the institutions of Spain and the Spanish Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
