Descendant of Gavrilo Princip proud of Sarajevo assassination

A descendant of Gavrilo Princip, a member of the Young Bosnia organization, who carried out the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian heir in Sarajevo, thus starting World War I, Gavrilo Princip, is proud of his great-uncle's deed, writes the British newspaper "Mirror", reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The widely circulated British newspaper published an extensive story about the descendant of the famous Gavrilo Princip, who bears his name and lives in Sarajevo. They state that he is a private entrepreneur, who, in addition to a house in Sarajevo, also owns a house in Bratunac.

- I have no problem with bearing the name Gavrilo Princip, I am proud of it. He is a hero to me, he wanted this country to be free from occupiers. Foreigners have always made decisions here, Turks, Austrians – said Gavrilo Princip Jr. The newspaper points out that the assassin Gavrilo Princip joined the Young Bosnia movement as a 15-year-old, which was connected to the nationalist movement "Black Hand".

He probably never dreamed that he would be the person to pull the trigger to start the bloodiest war in human history. Gavrilo Princip Jr., as stated, does not want to inherit the legacy of that war today, but only, as he says, the courage of the assassin. The newspaper also states that Serbs still consider that move heroism and want to erect a monument to Princip in the year marking the 100th anniversary of the assassination, which could cause additional national tensions.
