(Patria) - The Organizing Committee for the commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, held on May 24, at the proposal of the Movement "Mothers of the Enclaves Srebrenica and Žepa" and "Women of Podrinje" Bratunac,
unanimously decided to award the "Potočari Charter" to Dr. Igor Šoltes, Member of the European Parliament.
The "Potočari Charter" will be awarded to MEP Šoltes for his contribution to promoting the truth and protecting the victims of genocide on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica.
"People like Šoltes should be the leaders of the European Union's ideas, because only through truth and justice can lasting peace be ensured in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and Europe," believe the Movement "Mothers of the Enclaves Srebrenica and Žepa".
Dr. Igor Šoltes was the proposer of an amendment to the Resolution, which was adopted by the European Parliament in 2018. Šoltes' amendment emphasized that a fundamental step for Serbia on the path to European integration is the recognition of the genocide in Srebrenica and the full acceptance and implementation of the judgments and decisions of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) as well as its successor, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts (IRMCT).
