Potočari will be in white this July 11: 'Let's send a message to the whole world that our children were killed innocently'

(Patria) - The fourth meeting of the Organizational Committee for the commemoration of July 11, 1995, the 30th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica, was held today at the Potočari Memorial Center.

The program for the commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the greatest crime in Europe after World War II is still being determined.

The number of victims engraved on the stone slab is not yet final, and the white tombstones are a reminder of the terrible consequences of the war.

The final commemoration program should be adopted by May 15, at the next session of the Organizational Committee. So far, four families have given their consent for the burial of their loved ones on July 11.

- This does not mean that the number will not be higher. At this time of year, the number is smaller, but as July 11 approaches, families decide to give their consent for burial. And it is difficult for them to decide because it concerns a small number of bones - explains the president of the Organizational Committee, Hamdija Fejzić.

So far, 1,500 participants have registered for the "March of Peace", and the number is expected to be around 10,000.

As stated by the secretary of the Organizational Committee, Nermin Alivuković, it was agreed that this program would be unified with the coordination committee.

- I expect everyone who comes to the Memorial Center to be dressed with dignity, with a white scarf or a white T-shirt or shirt, so that we send a message to the whole world that our children were killed innocently - stated the president of the Association of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, Munira Subašić.

To date, eleven countries have confirmed the installation of the Srebrenica Flower monument, and numerous high-ranking officials and representatives of foreign countries have already confirmed their participation in the commemoration of the 30th anniversary in Potočari.

A conference will also be organized in New York, as well as an exhibition titled "Mother's Scarf".
