
(Patria) - The Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH and the Sarajevo International Airport, will host an observation team of the armed forces of the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Croatia and Hungary, which will conduct an observation flight over the territory of BiH in the period from 17 to 21 July 2023.
This activity represents the implementation of obligations under the international Treaty on Open Skies, of which Bosnia and Herzegovina is a signatory, and we inform the citizens of BiH that this is an agreed and planned aerial imaging event. The overflight will be conducted by an unarmed Turkish Air Force aircraft along an agreed route, with the participation of a support team from the Armed Forces of BiH.
The Open Skies Treaty is a security arrangement that allows all member states to conduct announced, unarmed reconnaissance flights over the entire territory of the country being overflown, for the purpose of sharing data on military forces and activities.
The purpose of the Treaty is to build and develop trust among its members. Bosnia and Herzegovina, as one of the signatory states, has been actively participating in the activities of the Treaty since 2003, the Ministry of Defence of BiH announced.
