Final preparations for the World Cup in Scotland: Triumph of the BH homeless football team in Sofia

The BH homeless football team won first place today at the International Tournament in Sofia. After the first day of competition and two victories, today our boys recorded three wins in three matches, which was quite enough for first place in the final standings ahead of the teams from Romania and Bulgaria, reports the Patria news agency.

Thus, our team played against Romania 7:4, against United Africa 9:3, and against Bulgaria we won on penalties 6:5 (5:5 in regular time). In the overall score, our team recorded 5 wins and one loss in two days of competition.

-The boys played excellently at this tournament. This successfully concluded the final test of abilities before going to the World Cup, which is being held this year in Scotland. We used the opportunity to build team chemistry in the best possible way, and I believe that now, fully prepared and full of confidence, we go to Glasgow to present BiH in the best light, said on that occasion Elmedin Škrebo, project manager of MFS-EMMAUS, under whose organization the BH homeless football team participates in all these competitions.

The 2016 Homeless World Cup is being held this year from July 10 to 16 in Glasgow. The best result of the BH team so far is second place at the World Cup in Chile in 2014.

The rule for all teams is to change the entire squad every year, and this year BiH will be represented by Asmir Mehić, Danijel Kolanović, Eldin Baraković, Mehmed Baščelić, Jovan Malinović, Sejfo Beganović, Sefer Halilović, and Esmin Mehanović.

This year, 48 men's and 16 women's teams will participate in the World Cup in Glasgow. It will be the 14th World Cup in a row, and the fifth for the BH team.
