Minister Adnan Šabani's Message on World Environment Day

(Patria) - Minister of Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection of Zenica-Doboj Canton Adnan Šabani sent a message on the occasion of June 5, World Environment Day, stating:

"Dear citizens of Zenica-Doboj Canton, June 5 is celebrated worldwide as World Environment Day. This is an opportunity to remind ourselves again of our responsibility towards planet Earth. This year's campaign is focused on what many consider a burning issue: so-called plastic pollution #BeatPlasticPollution

This pollution threatens our ecosystems, human health, and the future of the Earth. Plastic has become ubiquitous in our lives, but we pay a huge price for its convenience. From our rivers and seas to distant oceans filled with plastic waste, to microplastics in the food we eat and the air we breathe, plastic pollution is a global crisis. It is not just an aesthetic problem. Plastic suffocates wildlife, destroys natural habitats, and releases harmful chemicals into the environment.

However, I am sure there is hope for salvation. Together, we can reverse this trend, and each of us can contribute to reducing plastic waste: How?

- Let's reduce the use of single-use plastics. Let's choose cloth bags instead of plastic ones, use refillable water bottles, and avoid products with excessive plastic packaging;

- Let's recycle properly. Let's familiarize ourselves with the recycling rules in our community and ensure that plastic waste ends up where it belongs;

- Let's support innovation. Let's seek out and support companies that develop sustainable alternatives to plastic and promote a circular economy.

- Let's raise awareness and talk to friends and family members about the problem of plastic pollution, encouraging them to take action.

Overcoming plastic pollution requires joint efforts from governments, industry, and individuals. Let this World Environment Day be a reminder that every small step counts. Together, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable world for all of us.
