SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka, sent a message to citizens on the occasion of the tourist season, calling on them to be good hosts as they are.
Dear fellow citizens, we are witnessing that every day more and more tourists are coming to our city. Sarajevo is shining ever more strongly on the world tourist map, and we as hosts are becoming an increasingly important and beautiful face of our country. My dear fellow citizens, allow me to remind you that in the first four months of this year alone, 13.9 percent more tourists were registered than in the same period last year.
These data encourage us and spur us to additional activities in order to realize the full potential, bring economic development and prosperity to all citizens. The City of Sarajevo works daily to improve the quality of life for all of us. After the construction of the cable car and the arrangement of Trebević as a tourist attraction, and the organization of a spectacular New Year's celebration, we have also launched strong activities in promotion and attracting tourists.
At the beginning of the year, we gathered prominent tour operators from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the region in Sarajevo. We worked intensively on promoting Sarajevo as a desirable destination, and many world-famous personalities such as Bruce Dickinson, Luis Figo and many others sent beautiful messages from the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
And not only that, through numerous positive processes we have improved the living space by taking care of existential issues important to all of us. We have placed all resources and limited powers of the City Administration at the disposal of citizens, entrepreneurs and people of action. But, only with your support, Sarajevo can become a world tourist destination and a place where every guest feels special. The City of Sarajevo, as the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is particularly important in the cultural sense, and through our daily work we strive to expand that platform as well, carefully caring for the traditional values, specificities and peculiarities of the City of Sarajevo in a multi-religious sense, its economic capacity, and ultimately about a city that belongs to European culture.
My dear fellow citizens, the peak of the tourist season is ahead of us. I want to invite you in this way to all be good hosts to our guests together, to make the days ahead worthwhile for the city of Sarajevo. All of us individually make efforts to improve life in a city whose beauty amazes, and whose residents always delight every traveler, visitor and passer-by through our city. I want to emphasize that the doors of our administration are open for any kind of help to all residents and guests.
So that we all together preserve what we have, show what we know and believe that only work and kindness create better for all of us!
