Repeated elections in RS on February 8 will cost the state over half a million KM

(Patria) - 600,000 KM from the budget of BiH institutions should be provided for the implementation of repeated early elections in the RS entity, Nezavisne novine writes.

This concerns polling stations in Prijedor, Laktaši, Banja Luka, Doboj, Stanari, Lopare, Ugljevik, Osmaci, Zvornik, Vlasenica, Bratunac, Nevesinje, Gacko, Rudo, Bileća, Milići, and Brčko.

CEC member Željko Bakalar said at the session that a request from a political party for the use of new election technologies in the repeated elections was received, but that they will not be able to be used.

The CEC, let us remind you, made a decision on December 24 to annul the early elections for the president of the RS at 136 polling stations in 17 electoral units.

The CEC of BiH determined the most irregularities in Zvornik, where elections will be repeated at as many as 53 polling stations, and 35,533 voters will have the right to vote.

Next is Doboj, where 31 polling stations are disputed, and if the turnout were maximal, 17,764 citizens would go to the polls. More than 17,000 voters with the right to vote could also go to the polls in Laktaši, given that the CEC annulled the elections at 24 polling stations.

The fourth local community that stands out is Bratunac, where elections were annulled at 13 polling stations, and 6,563 citizens have the right to vote.

In Prijedor, 1,460 voters will have the right to vote at two polling stations. It is also disputed in Milići, and 959 citizens will have the opportunity to vote again at two polling stations.

One polling station each is disputed in Rudo (988 voters), Ugljevik (936), Osmaci (671), Banja Luka (535), Vlasenica (464), Nevesinje (337), Lopare (259), Gacko (230), Stanari (220), Brčko (217), and Bileća, where 81 voters will potentially vote again.

The ruling coalition led by SNSD, let us remind you, announced criminal charges against members of the CEC of BiH.

"I cannot believe that Serbs are thieves only in 136 places, and not in others where they voted for other candidates. It is unbelievable that the CEC canceled polling stations without even conducting a recount at those 136 polling stations. Who are they fooling? There were objections on election day in only three places in the entire RS. Charges will be filed against the members of the CEC of BiH," said Milorad Dodik, president of SNSD, earlier.

As stated by the CEC of BiH, the decision was made based on objections and established irregularities. It was also stated that manipulations and irregularities were determined, including the subtraction and addition of votes for candidates.

"Numerous irregularities were registered in these early elections. To protect the integrity of the electoral process, it is necessary to annul the elections," the CEC said at the time.

Early elections for the president of the RS were held in the RS on November 23, 2025. Previously, the CEC revoked the mandate of the president of the RS, Milorad Dodik, after he was finally sentenced to one year in prison and a six-year ban from holding public office for non-compliance with the decisions of the High Representative.
