(Patria) - Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler, and UNDP Resident Representative in BiH, Steliana Nedera, will present today, 2 April 2020, 2,000 medical face shields (visors) to the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Mario Nenadić, and the President of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, Aida Pilav.
The procurement was financed by the European Union under the assistance programme for BiH in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) implemented by UNDP BiH.
A total of 15,000 visors will be delivered to all cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republika Srpska and Brčko District of BiH by the end of the week.
The visors are produced by a BiH company from Goražde, and with this, the European Union has also supported local production.
During the day, the delivery of 7,500 coronavirus tests in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Tuzla and Mostar will also be completed, in cooperation with the implementing partner, UNDP BiH. This assistance is part of the first package of European Union support for urgent medical needs in BiH in the fight against the coronavirus, worth 2 million euros.
A total of 7 million euros is planned for this support, which also includes the procurement of 80 respirators. The delivery of the first respirators is expected in the first half of April 2020, stated in the announcement of the EU Communications Department in BiH.
