Benjamin Isović and Ira Adilagić were recently elected as deputy chairpersons of the Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council. Isović confirmed to us that both of them want to renounce the salary for this position, which amounts to 3,600 KM per month. This requires fulfilling bureaucratic procedures. Isović is a councilor from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Adilagić is a councilor from Our Party (NS). He explained what needs to be done to achieve their intention.
“We have not renounced the lump-sum payments as compensation for work in the council. We want to renounce the salaries for the deputy chairperson, and that is correct. However, there are now a number of very absurd problems in terms of fitting into the regulations. Ms. Adilagić and I are very open and persistent in bringing this to an end. But there are various obstacles in the regulations. That salary is 3,600 KM net, and for a chairperson, that is more than 43,000 KM annually,” he pointed out.
According to Isović, they are very willing for this to happen.
“As persistent as I am, I am also stubborn. I will strive to make it happen,” he added, stating that this money must be available to society.
If this request is implemented, the budget of the Centar Municipality would be richer by 345,600 KM in the next four years.
