
(Patria) - Representatives of all levels of government in BiH and veteran associations marked the 33rd anniversary of the formation of the 1st Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina by laying flowers and paying tribute to fallen soldiers, martyrs, and civilian victims of war.
Flowers were laid and tribute was paid at the memorial sites: Kovači Martyr Memorial Cemetery, Eternal Flame, Memorial to the Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo, Alipašina Mosque Courtyard, Lav Cemetery, Sveti Marko, Sveti Josip and Stadion, and the Veterans' Alley - Vlakovo City Cemetery.
The 1st Corps of ARBiH was the corps with the largest zone of responsibility, the largest number of brigades, which defended the capital city of Sarajevo as the administrative center and made an immeasurable contribution to the defense of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Organized by the Ministry for Veteran Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, JOB "Union of Veterans" KS, and the Sarajevo Memorial Center, an academy will be held this evening in the Multimedia Hall of the Sarajevo Memorial Center, bringing together distinguished members of the 1st Corps, and discussions with participants of the wartime defense in a "live podcast" format.
As part of this year's commemoration program, religious services were also organized in memory of the martyrs and fallen soldiers, members of the Army of RBiH – a requiem mass for fallen defenders at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a parastos for fallen soldiers at the Old Orthodox Church, and a tevhid for martyrs at Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque.
This year, the commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the formation of the 1st Corps of ARBiH is held under the slogan "Always First – 1st Corps of the Army of RBiH".
