Watch the video of the tram derailing in Sarajevo

(Patria) - The Patria News Agency is in possession of footage of today's horrific traffic accident near the Secondary Mechanical Technical School in Sarajevo, in which one person was fatally injured and four were seriously injured after a tram derailed.

The footage was taken from a car that was waiting for a green light at the traffic lights near the Historical Museum of BiH at the time.

As can be seen from the footage, the tram was turning from the direction of the Railway Station towards Baščaršija at the time of the accident.

Then, for reasons yet to be determined, it jumped off the rails and ended up on the main road. One person was killed, and four were seriously injured.

The Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton (KS) announced that the investigation into the tram accident, which is being conducted under the supervision of two prosecutors, with the presence of experts in mechanical and traffic engineering, will continue tomorrow.

- Necessary expert examinations will be conducted to determine all circumstances and the manner in which the accident occurred, after which a decision on further procedural actions will be made - said the KS Prosecutor's Office.

Due to the investigation, huge traffic jams occurred as parts of the main city road were closed to traffic, and vehicles were diverted to alternative routes.
