
(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against Radislav Krstić, born in 1948 in Vlasenica, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia, who is serving a prison sentence imposed by the ICTY.
The accused is charged that during the war, as part of a widespread and systematic attack by the TO, VRS and police on the civilian population of Bosniak ethnicity in the area of Sokolac and its surroundings, in his capacity as commander of the 2nd Romanija Motorized Brigade of the VRS, on 21/22 September 1992, he participated in a joint criminal enterprise and an attack on the village of Novoseoci, in the municipality of Sokolac, inhabited by a population of Bosniak ethnicity.
After the attack, women and children were separated from men, and captured men were transported by military trucks to a landfill at the location of Ivan Polje, where they were shot and killed by gunfire. At that location, 44 victims were killed, the youngest of whom was 14 and the oldest 77 years old. The bodies of 43 victims have been exhumed and found, while the remains of one victim are still being searched for. During the commission of the crime, looting and destruction of property occurred, and the local mosque was demolished and its remains thrown onto the bodies of the victims at the Ivan Polje landfill.
The accused Krstić is charged with planning, ordering, committing, inciting and aiding in the planning, preparation, commission and concealment of the war crime committed against the population of the village of Novoseoci, thereby committing the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172, paragraph 1, point h) in conjunction with points a) and d) of the Criminal Code of BiH, all in conjunction with Article 180, paragraph 1 and Articles 29, 30 and 31 of the same Law.
