Indictment filed against four people for smuggling livestock across the Drina River

(Patria) - A prosecutor from the BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against four individuals for livestock smuggling.

The accused are: Đerić Milorad, born in 1982 in Ljubovija, residing in Bratunac, a BiH citizen with a prior conviction. Orašanin Radenko, born in 1977 in Srebrenica where he resides, a BiH citizen. Ilić Jovan, born in 1999 in Zvornik, residing in Bratunac, a BiH citizen. Polić Predrag, aka “Peđa”, born in 1989 in Travnik, residing in Bratunac, a BiH citizen.

The accused are charged with, in order to gain illegal property benefits, after agreeing with persons known to them from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, smuggling dozens of heads of large and small livestock across the state border on the Drina River. They smuggled the livestock using a motorboat, outside of border crossings and without the necessary customs, sanitary, veterinary, and health controls, as stipulated by BiH laws, during the import of animals and animal products into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the commission of the criminal offense, the perpetrators were discovered by police officers of the BiH Border Police.

The accused are charged as co-perpetrators, without proper authorization, evading customs control measures, and transferring goods across the customs line whose import requires special authorization or permit from the competent authority, thereby committing the criminal offense - Smuggling under Article 214, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment has been forwarded to the BiH Court for confirmation.
