(Patria) - The two-month break is over, and the ball will roll again on the Premier League fields today, with three matches of the 1st round of the BHT Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina scheduled. It can be said it's a new season, but the old problems, as players will once again struggle and play in extreme heat, because several stadiums in the elite tier of BiH football do not have floodlights.
Right from the start, we expect two derbies, i.e., two clashes between the current and former champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Željezničar – Borac (Saturday) and Sarajevo – Zrinjski (Sunday).
Today's program will be marked by the match at Grbavica, where Željezničar will host Borac. The team from Banja Luka has secured a return to the elite and their 'baptism of fire' will be in Dolina ćupova. The 'Blues' missed out on Europe last season at the green table, so this match will be their premiere this season. The match at Grbavica starts at 8:30 PM.
Velež – Mladost and Zvijezda – Tuzla City will open the new season at 5:30 PM. The 'Rođeni' are favorites because after a great season in the First League of FBiH, they have high ambitions in the elite tier of our football. Tuzla City has strengthened during the summer transfer window, and today we might get an answer as to whether that is enough for them to compete for the top of the table, writes sportske.ba.
The highlight of the 1st round will be the duel between Sarajevo and Zrinjski, which takes place on Sunday at 7:00 PM. The champion against the runner-up, a clash of teams representing BiH in Europe and the main contenders for the title.
A neighborhood derby will be played on Sunday at 8:30 PM at Tušanj between Sloboda and Radnik. The team from Tuzla has changed its squad compared to last season, and they have also changed their coach. On the other hand, the team from Bijeljina was unfortunately eliminated from Europe, as they were knocked out by Spartak Trnava in a penalty shootout the night before last.
