Football league for primary schools of Stari Grad begins

The draw for the 2016/2017 season, conducted by FK Sarajevo coach Mehmed Janjoš, today announced the pairings for the first round of the Stari Grad primary school football league, which begins on Wednesday, 28 September. This year, the teams from the primary schools “Edhem Mulabdić”, “Vrhbosna”, “Saburina”, “Mula Mustafa Bašeskija”, “Hamdija Kreševljaković”, and last year's undisputed champions from the “Šejh Muhamed ef. Hadžijamaković” school will once again compete in the football league. All matches will be played at the sports and recreation mini-football fields at Bentbaša, on Wednesdays from 14:00 to 17:00, announced the Stari Grad Municipality, as reported by Patria. 

The League Commissioners are Mensud Handžić and Andrej Dizdarević, from the municipal Department for Education, Culture and Sports, who today reiterated the rules of the game to the attending players.

- Similar to last year's system, this year we also have a triple round-robin competition system, meaning we will have eight rounds in the autumn part and seven rounds in the spring part. This year, we have also provided referees at the cantonal level and a medical team for each match - said Dizdarević.

Mehmed Janjoš Čala also wished the primary school students good play and fair play, taking the opportunity to present a gift to Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić: a FK Sarajevo jersey with the number seven and his name.

- I can only wish you good play and that you have fun throughout the upcoming season, and may the best team win - said Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić to the school teams. Hadžibajrić presented the captains of all teams with new jerseys in which they will play the 2016/2017 season.

- Given that we convincingly won the title last season, we hope and will try to repeat that this year. It will be interesting - said Rijad Hadžić, captain of the ”Šejh Muhamed efendija Hadžijamaković” school team.

After the draw, the first round pairings are: „Saburina“ – „Šejh Muhamed ef. Hadžijamaković“ (14:00); „Hamdija Kreševljaković“ – „Mula Mustafa Bašeskija“ (15:00) and „Vrhbosna“ – „Edhem Mulabdić“ (16:00).

The Stari Grad primary school football league has been running for three years, and the best teams, best players, and best fair-play teams receive trophies and cash prizes. Last season, the first-place team was also awarded a two-day trip to the Faculty of Forestry House on Igman.
