
(Patria) - NATO Headquarters Sarajevo is hosting the second NATO forum titled "Engagement and Mission Content of the Armed Forces in Response to Natural and Other Disasters and Accidents", held in Mostar.
This three-day forum, which began today, will continue work on concrete improvements to existing practices regarding the timeliness and efficiency of the engagement of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in response to natural and other disasters in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Opening the Forum, Brigadier General Matthew Valas, Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, stated that NATO is firmly committed to supporting all efforts that enable BiH authorities to respond to natural and other disasters.
- The main goal of our discussions today on best practices, procedures and coordination frameworks is to serve our communities more effectively. This forum represents an opportunity to offer solutions and develop appropriate options for different circumstances.
Ultimately, in every disaster response situation, time is of the essence, which requires advanced training, clear procedures and rapid deployment - said Valas.
The forum brought together Deputy Ministers of Defence of BiH Slaven Galić and Aleksandar Goganović, Chief and Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH, Lieutenant General Gojko Knežević and Major General Mirsad Ahmić, representatives of the cabinets of members of the BiH Presidency, as well as relevant experts and representatives of the Armed Forces of BiH, the British Embassy and NATO Headquarters Sarajevo.
