EBRD Annual Meeting Committee Program Begins in Sarajevo

In the presence of officials, representatives of the business community and investors from BiH, the region and the world, today, with a meeting of donors of this international financial institution arriving from 3 continents, the program of the long-awaited Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Committee of Governors began.

During a tour of all event venues with media representatives, Minister Šarović emphasized that he expects Bosnia and Herzegovina to present itself in a positive light.

“There are no organizational problems. We only hope the weather will be better. Delegates, guests and participants are already arriving. Most governors are in the Council of Ministers building, where they have their bilateral meetings,” Šarović stated.

The first day of the program is filled with numerous events focused on small and medium-sized enterprises, namely the challenges they face, as well as their networking. Several panels will also discuss the application of various technologies in business, and in the afternoon, a panel with Baroness Catherine Ashton will be held.

“We are very happy to be in beautiful Sarajevo and to work with the business community and authorities to hold a successful EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum. We are extremely pleased with the strong media interest in the event and are convinced that it will contribute to putting Bosnia and Herzegovina on the map for international investors. Preparations have been successfully completed, and we look forward to everything that awaits us in the coming days,” stated Axel Reiserer, Head of EBRD Media Relations, on this occasion.

In the next 3 days, 3000 representatives of the international business community, investors, high government officials (EBRD governors, ministers of finance, economy, treasury or central banks), and representatives of civil society organizations will stay in the capital of our country.

Duško Radović, owner of the company Transfera from neighboring Serbia, also spoke about the benefits for the private sector, emphasizing that this event is a good opportunity for the local economy.

“This conference is very important for the region, given that all Western Balkan countries are interconnected. I come from Serbia and have been cooperating with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for several years. Their consulting services, which enable company growth, are of great importance to me and my company,” said Radović.

Within the event, through more than 40 events, topics such as the business of small and medium-sized enterprises, digitalization, the impact of migration, and green cities will be discussed.

BiH will present its potentials and strategic industries at the Session on Investment Potentials in BiH, titled “Invest in BiH – Invest in Profitable Projects,” which will be held on Thursday, May 9, in the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. At this session, all attendees will be presented with the benefits of investing in BiH, such as its geographical location, favorable legal environment, and trade agreements, and positive experiences of foreign investors will be shared.
