Reconstruction of Foča-Trnovo road begins, deadline for completion is 45 days

(Patria) - Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska, Zoran Stevanović, says that the reconstruction of the landslide on the Foča-Trnovo road began today, and that the reconstruction of the bridge piers will start soon, for which between two and 2.5 million KM will be allocated.

After a meeting with the Mayor of Foča Municipality, Milan Vukadinović, in Banja Luka, Stevanović said that the works are expected to be completed in 45 days.

- Considering the nature and the condition of the road, we are satisfied with the deadlines given to us by the designers and contractors. If there are no major precipitations, I expect the deadlines to be met - Stevanović stated.



He points out that after that, the construction of the Bistrica embankment will commence in order to preserve the foundations of the bridge piers, and that the retaining wall will cost about one and a half million KM.

- The traffic interruption on the Foča-Sarajevo road has caused many problems in the daily lives of citizens, especially those living along that route, as well as passengers, and it is necessary to make alternative routes operational - Stevanović said.

He noted that a 16-kilometer gravel bypass is currently being used as an alternative for passenger vehicles and small buses, and that the company Putevi RS has been tasked with preparing project documentation for the construction of an adequate and safe bypass in the foreseeable future.
