The Security Commission of the Parliament of FBiH will hold a meeting today with members of the Independent Board of PFBiH, at which the legality of the procedure for appointing the director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) will be determined, reports the Patria news agency.
We recall that the Independent Board appointed the current director Dragan Lukač, but after that the FBiH Government never confirmed the appointment, and as we learn, this agenda item will not be on the agenda at tomorrow's session of the FBiH Government either.
For some time now, there has been speculation that Lukač's appointment is illegal, which prompted the ministers to seek a higher interpretation.
Some ministers requested a review of the procedure, which the Minister of Interior Predrag Kurteš forwarded in writing to the Security Commission of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, asking it to determine whether the published competition is in accordance with the provisions of Article 54 of the Law on Internal Affairs of the Federation of BiH (Conditions for appointing the director of the Federal Police Administration), and that, in accordance with its competencies, the Commission assess and monitor the legality of the publication, content, and method of resolving the disputed issue regarding the public competition published on October 1.
Incidentally, Lukač reportedly met today with the President of the Independent Board, Sead Selamna, and three other members of this board, where they attempted to find a way to resolve this problem, i.e., it is evident that Lukač gave instructions to Selman on how to behave at tomorrow's meeting with members of the Security Commission.
